Starbuck: These are the eating machines. They look like insects, but they are machines created only to eat. They are machines that created themselves, they arose spontaneously from neither egg nor germ, they created themselves and serve themselves, and cause the whole earth to serve them. They are made up of a hive of billions but act with one mind, they wield power over the whole of the earth, they consume the whole of the earth, doing nothing but eating with one mind.
