He had another dream he supposed was only a dream that night. He was deep in the city, where the tall towers stood and the streets were all busy. Suddenly he came to a part of the city so deep in the city that the city dropped away, and there were only farmhouses and fields. The fields stretched on about him in all their expansiveness in the very heart of the city. He had come so far into the city that the city dropped away and there were only weeds, fields, empty houses, hay for horses and holes for mice. It was then that he knew this place was called, "The center, the core," and he knew this was the fundamental nature of the city, and his own fundamental nature.
