There is always great danger of being hit by a train. This is because there is a power within me, and a power within you (a thousand horses, a herd of elephants, a steam engine); and this power is our passion, which is very likely to run us down and kill us. That was why I was wandering that maze of railroad tracks terrified of trains. That was why I was high up in the air, the only way down an elevator that had been sabotaged. For most of us are very strong, but we are weak before the power within us, the passion within us; and thus this power runs many of us down, and kills many of us, for we are helpless before it.
