I cannot stand this rising light; no, I cannot stand these globes of light flying through the air and descending upon me from the air; this is all so maddening and insane; O, stop these rising lights. These lights are the breath of devils, these lights are the manifestations of angels and the footprints of angels; these lights, this city is the remains of something that once lived; these lights, this city is the remains of thousands of living things, though they no longer live here. The breath of devils is light; and the footprints of angels are light; and light tortures me and tortures me; I cannot stand to see the light. Everywhere I go throughout the city I see lights (they stab me in the eyes). And so I flee the lights, and I cannot escape the lights (and light is the essence of the devil). (These lights stab me through; these lights pierce me; they are lines that constantly shoot through me; I am surrounded by the light and I cannot stand the light.) And so they grabbed him, and dragged him by one arm, and he lay there very afraid (for they were terrorizing him). Here I am, touch my hands, touch my flesh: I am such a gentle thing, I am not a frightful thing. This is why God took from them the power of their fire; and God said to them, "Certainly your very existence is abomination," and thus they were damned, and they loved their damnation. We have cursed you and damned you, for your flesh was abomination, your very substance was the stuff of abomination. He was not angry: he was terrified, and they knocked his head against the arm, and wrestled with his head under the arm. And thus his head was clumsily stricken, and the arm went over the head, and he thought for a moment that his head felt comfortable under the arm; but he knew that pain was soon to follow. And they didn't terrorize him for very long, they didn't keep him in constant fear, but merely shot him in the face (and thus it was finished).
