It was around this time that the Sandman decided to torment him with machines. The Sandman had many secret machines (and he rules in secret). And so he decided to torment this man with his machines, and thus the man was tortured and tortured by the Sandman's machines. The Sandman said to himself, "Soul, you have really achieved everything: for if you want him to feel anguish, you press this button; and if you want to send him nightmares, you press this other button; and if you want him to be overcome by devils, you press this last button." For the Sandman is a master of disguise and rules in secret from somewhere off in the wilderness (he is the secret ruler, and his rule is absolute). So the Sandman said to himself, "Shall I kill him yet?" and then he said, "No, not yet: I shall give him more torture first." And so the Sandman went on sending him anguish with his machines, and there was no end to the anguish the Sandman sent him.
